Canet de Mar has a number of characteristic elements which set it apart from other towns.

Canet de Mar was the workplace and home of the internationally renowned architect Lluis Domènech i Montaner. Among his best known works are the ‘Palau de la Música’ and the ‘Hospital de Sant Pau i la Santa Creu’. His residence, now converted into a museum, is part of the local architectural heritage.

The neogothic architecture of the Misericordia Sanctuary provides another outstanding landmark. The spectacular beauty of the temple, attractively located on the hillside, attracts many couples from far and wide who choose to swear their wedding vows here. The church was originally built in dedication to the Virgin of Misericordia,  patron of Maresme.

Despite the town’s rather small size, Canetians have always been characterised by their cultural vitality. A clear example of this is the internationally famous group Comediants. The town also boasts a rich number of cultural associations with more than a hundred different entities and social groups which give the town a dynamic and enterprising character.

We invite you to stroll through our town and discover its beauty. We believe information must be available for everyone, and without doubt, internet is the best  way to achieve this nowadays.
